The East Dundee fatal car accident Sept. 10 that left two men dead and two seriously injured occurred at a speed that exceeded 100 mph and was so violent that car engine was separated from its body, a police news release said.
Investigators have not been able to determine which of the men was driving because three were thrown from the vehicle and the fourth needed to be extricated, the release said.

The crash occurred about 1:30 a.m. on Main Street, east of Van Buren Street, killing Cesar Escobedo, 21, and Antony Rueda, 17, both of Hanover Park.
Damian Alfaro, 23, of Hanover Park, remains hospitalized in critical condition and a 17-year-old man from Elgin is in serious condition, police said.

East Dundee police worked with the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team to determine the sequence of events.
A final report on the incident will not be complete for at least another two weeks, police said.
