A 7-year-old boy was fatally shot early Tuesday morning in East Chicago, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
Jermiah Moore, 7, suffered a gunshot wound in an apparent homicide, the coroner’s release said.

Around 1 a.m., East Chicago Police received several calls about shots fired in the 3500 Block of Pennsylvania Street. Moore was transported to the emergency room at St. Catherine’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:28 a.m., according to the release.
