Boy, 11, dies after hit-and-run in Lawndale, police say

An 11-year-old boy died Thursday morning after he was hit by a vehicle in Lawndale, Chicago police said.

The boy was crossing the road in the 3300 block of West 16th Street about 10:20 a.m. when he was hit, and he was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the boy fled the scene.

The investigation is ongoing. No further information was immediately available.
