St. Xavier (22-4) is seeded ninth and will play top-seeded Benedictine Mesa at 1 p.m. on April 11 in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament for men’s volleyball in Des Moines, Iowa. The Cougars will then play eighth-seeded Georgetown at 1 p.m. on April 12. The winner of the pool advances to the national semifinals on April 14. … St. Xavier’s Oskar Krzyzak was named men’s volleyball player of the year and freshman of the year in the CCAC. Other award winners were St. Xavier’s Andres Velez (libero) and Tom Ryan (coach), and Judson’s Elijah Wrobel (setter). St. Xavier’s Jan Lopuch, Trinity Christian’s Alex Costa and Judson’s Brendan Gibbons were also named all-conference. … St. Xavier’s Nico Saldias (baseball) and St. Francis’ Hannah Vachon (softball) were selected pitchers of the week in the CCAC.
