“The family of 13-year-old Eric Crawford, who was shot Sunday morning in McKinley Park, is grateful for the support and prayers they have received from area residents,” family members said in a statement issued Tuesday through officials at Stroger Hospital, where he was taken after the shooting. “They urge anyone with information on the shooting to contact the Chicago Police Department.”
“I went as far as Cline Avenue (to the east along the river), and while nefarious things have gone on there, there was nothing,” Hull said. “I really want to ask the people (at the engineering firm), ‘Do you mind if I crawl around your property? I’ll sign a waiver.’ I mean, there are box trucks with their doors open, so he could be in there.”

Saturday will mark the seventh “Switch on Summer” event, where the Park District and Commonwealth Edison partner in restarting the water flow in the landmark fountain in Grant Park. Thought it’s typically a festival-like event with live music and games, only a small group will be in person this year, said Park District spokesperson Irene Tostado.
During the fight, the employee sustained a sprained elbow and hair removed from his head, police said. The employee was taken to a local hospital and released Sunday. The customer had injuries to his face and abrasions on other areas of his body and declined medical treatment while at the scene, according to officials.

It was the first time since the pandemic that she had been faced with a non-distanced seating request, and it startled her for a moment. She asked if he’d been vaccinated. He said yes, and she said yes. “I took a chance,” she said, that he was telling the truth.

The council’s 13-member Latino Caucus and its 18-member Progressive Caucus also have endorsed the compromise ordinance, though it isn’t clear how many members of each group signed on. Seventeen of the 18 members of the Progressive Caucus also belong to either the Black or Latino caucus, so even now, support may fall short of a council majority.
RaJohn Stewart, 24, of County Club Hills, and a juvenile have been charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle, burglary, attempted unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle — all felonies — and misdemeanor criminal damage to property, according to a news release from the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.
