At CAST Water Safety Foundation in Forest Park, which offers an intensive six-week program for babies and children up to age 6, scholarships are available, and director Liz Huber says no one is turned away due to lack of ability to pay. However, Huber said, there are already a couple hundred people on the summer wait list.

But looking at satellite photos, it’s evident that hundreds, if not thousands, of trees were within the path of the three block-wide whirlwind. Rivers Casino in Des Plaines is hiring 400 people, including 250 dealers, to prepare for a 78,000-square-foot expansion set to open in spring 2022. In September 2020, the 17-year-old boy was outside with a group of people in the 4400 block of West Jackson Boulevard when a man fired shots from a black Nissan Altima, striking the teen in the neck and chest. He was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital, according to police.
