To prove their case, prosecutors must show that the enterprise went beyond just Kelly himself, said Blakey, now a professor emeritus at Notre Dame’s law school. But they don’t necessarily have to prove a sophisticated Mafia-like structure existed under him. Case law has held that the enterprise must only be as organized as a pickup basketball game, Blakey said, and Kelly’s indictment more than meets the elements of a RICO case.

“The former governor is complaining about lack of due process. But the problem is, he failed to present one witness, any shred of evidence or testify himself,” Durkin said. “So when someone complains about due process, and you have not availed yourself to due process, the complaint falls flat.”

“We’ve actually watched females sitting on platforms with a male in attendance, and the male will repeatedly approach the nest and present the female with a stick,” Anchor said. “And if she likes it, she’ll leave it. If she doesn’t like it, she’ll reach down, pick it up, and go to the edge of the platform and drop it.”

You are obviously bugging these younger family members, and my instinct is that if you are substantially older than they are, and if you see yourself as a mother figure to them, you are most likely weighing in on their choices and intruding on social media, where the tone of a comment or reply can easily be misunderstood.

Abreu singled and Eloy Jiménez walked in the sixth. Andrew Vaughn grounded into a double play, with Abreu advancing to third. Moncada then hit the hard grounder, with a 99.7 mph exit velocity, according to MLB Statcast, but Santana snagged it for the final out.

With side changes every seven points and technical timeouts every 14, the players retreated to benches, where an awning was rolled up over their heads for shade. Although a small sample size, Hoerner has shown he can handle center field, and his offensive profile and defensive ability could be a good combination. Hoerner indicated Thursday that he’s open-minded about playing different positions. In the last two years, Hoerner has logged innings at second, shortstop, third, left field and center field. It could be useful to give Hoerner playing time around the diamond to gain more big-league innings and add to his experience before 2022.

“This guy is just scratching the surface,” Rumph said. “I’ve been really impressed with his intelligence. He’s a really, really smart player, so I’m not surprised when I see some of the things he’s accomplished so far. … He absorbs things from anybody. It could be a vet, a rookie, a coach, an assistant coach, anybody, he’s absorbing information.

“Therefore, I can see the rationale of testing yourself if you went to Lollapalooza, especially if you live or work around people who are not vaccinated or are likely not as well-protected,” Sala said. “From my perspective, if you were at Lollapalooza, you should be masking and self-quarantining to keep other people safe, vaccinated or not. My take is that if you were at Lollapalooza, you have to assume you were exposed to (the virus) and should behave as such to protect those around you.”
