Shots were reported outside a police station at 6:56 a.m. on the 5700 block of West Madison. A 27-year-old man was found lying in the street, hit four times in the lower half of his body, police said;bullets also hit five of the station’s windows, but no one inside the building was injured.
Police were called to the 400 block of Pine Creek Drive around 9:30 p.m. for a report of “an individual who was behaving erratically,” according to a news release from the agency. Three police officers entered the residence they were called to and encountered a man with a gun, “which he pointed directly at the officers,” officials said.

Montgomery has looked good during training camp. I don’t know that he’s going to be noticeably faster this season. Generally, once running backs enter the NFL, they get slower as the wear and tear adds up. Sure, a player can get a little leaner, but a running back is what he is by the time he’s a professional. Montgomery never will be a home run hitter. It’s possible he could have improved his lateral quickness a little bit, but he’s not going to look like Alvin Kamara this season. I think you will see the same player who runs with excellent balance and vision. It’s smart that Montgomery really pushed himself in training during the offseason, and provided the offensive line comes together — a real question right now — he could have a very productive season. Montgomery’s opportunities and the performance of the line will determine his success more than any speed training. If the Bears remain committed to the ground game, which often can be a function of game circumstances, I could see him topping 1,200 yards. That benchmark will be easier for healthy running backs to hit with a 17th regular-season game.
“If they go into communities and launch their own businesses and can employ people, it’s an amplifier effect,” she said. “That’s the piece that got us in, what the business enables in the lives of others. When Cara and I are going to a company picnic and someone says: ‘I’m able to send my kid to school for four years, we can pay the tuition’ or ‘I just bought my new house.’ At the end of the day, yes, the products are cool, and the legacy story is cool, but how it makes a difference in the lives of our community, our people, and the organizations we are able to support — that’s what makes it all worth it.” Or as Hughes phrases it: “What we do well, allows us to do good.”
“Got a lot better there the second through the fifth, sixth, but was just trying to find my rhythm, my tempo (in the first),” Keuchel said. “It just seemed I was really sluggish, just felt a little bit different than I usually do. That was the main thing, trying to find that connection point, and thankfully I did.”
Police in the suburb said they responded to a disturbance call at Advocate Christ Medical Center at about 8:30 a.m. Evalena Flores, identified as the mother of the brothers, allegedly tried to enter the room of Emonte Morgan, 21, who is charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and weapons offenses in the killing of Chicago police Officer Ella French.
