“In the region, we have seen a growth in population, we have seen a growth in housing units,” Smith said. “The rate of change is not as high as the U.S., probably because we had some surplus still and some challenges from the recession. And the big question mark is, if we’re going to use this data to add to or increase development, who is it going to be for?”

Officers were conducting a traffic stop about 7 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of 63rd Street near South State Street when the driver of an Impala reversed his car and dragged the officer, pinning him between the Impala and a viaduct, said Michelle Tannehill, spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department.

According to the woman’s declaration attached to the request for the protection order, she suffered injuries as a result of the second encounter, including two black eyes, a bloodied swollen lip, significant bruising and scratching to one side of her face.
