The Chicago Fire Department took two men, 39 and 40, to the University of Chicago Medical Center. The younger man was in fair condition after being shot in the ankle; the older man was in critical condition after being shot in the lower backside and leg. Three other people took themselves to hospitals with gunshot wounds to their limbs. A man, 32, was in good condition at Advocate Trinity Hospital. Two women, 44 and 25, were in fair condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center and good condition at Advocate Trinity Hospital, respectively.
Stay off piers, jetties and breakwaters on Lake Michigan, the National Weather Service warned on social media Sunday morning. Waves on the lake — which may reach as high as seven feet in the Chicago area — could be “high enough to sweep you off and into the water,” the agency said.

Courtney Vandersloot scored nine points during a 10-1 run to close the first half and trim the Sky’s deficit to four, and Kahleah Copper made a layup to cap a 9-1 spurt and make it 63-62 — the Sky’s first lead since midway through the first quarter — with about three minutes left in the third. McBride answered with a jumper on the other end, and the Lynx led the rest of the way.
“They did the microdiscectomy, and a lot of the pain was gone because I had sciatica all the way past my knees on both sides. And I just said, ‘I’m going to get back on the field as quick as I can.’ Three days later I was doing stuff, but when I got back on the field after five weeks and put those pads on, it just did not feel good. When I ran, I was afraid to step the wrong way. If I turned the wrong way quickly, my back would tighten up. It was really, really sore. … And then I came back and played six weeks later, I played against Minnesota (in Week 3) and I just wasn’t ready to play at all. I had no business being out on the field. I just thought, ‘Hey, I’ve done this a million times before, I can just get out there and do it.’ No way. Shouldn’t have ever been out there. And then I went on injured reserve for six weeks and was swimming every day and working out every day and doing all of that stuff, so when I came back seven weeks later, we played against Tampa Bay at home and I didn’t start that game. It says 111 games, 110 starts. That was the one game I didn’t start. I played the second and fourth quarters and I felt OK. I just didn’t feel like myself and I started the next week and I started all the rest of the games and the playoffs, but I was never the same after that.
As an adult, the insect is a striking metallic green beetle, but it is at the larval stage that it destroys ash trees. The younger man was shot in the head, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
Cubs security at Wrigley Field ordered fans to leave the upper deck patio areas, where many had moved during the delay, and told them to head to the concourse, where it was already crammed with people. Many fans left the ballpark with the assumption it would be a long delay and they would have nowhere to stand.
