Others are offering bigger-than-usual signing bonuses, like Amazon, which is looking to hire 7,700 employees in Illinois as part of 125,000 new transportation and fulfillment jobs nationwide, on top of 75,000 new jobs the company announced in May. The Illinois jobs have an average starting wage of $16 per hour and can come with bonuses of up to $3,000 in certain locations, including the company’s warehouse in Monee.

“Muhammad Ali’s time spent in Chicago, which was significant … (it) was a seminal period in his life so it was a natural thing for us to build out a website so we could make sure our audience in this region, knows about all the connections there,” Gleason said. “Some of the content you’ll see: We had local architecture expert Lee Bey do a photo essay of all of the buildings, places and spaces that had some meaning to it and his time here. The contract, which needs to be approved at a university board of trustees meeting Thursday, is worth $25.6 million for the next six seasons, according to Bret Beherns of WCIU-TV in Champaign. Illinois didn’t announce terms of the deal but said in a release Thursday that the first four years ($16.7 million, according to Beherns) are fully guaranteed, moving Underwood’s total annual compensation into the top 10 nationally.
“We probably would have supported the decision if it was different, if it was made for the right reasons,” Daly said. “Since these allegations arose, I think the Blackhawks as an organization have handled everything in the right way and they’ve taken the proper steps. We’ll see at the end of the day what comes of it.”

“Namely, stunted corn, the tips of corn cobs not filling (which means less overall yield), and soybeans not filling as many pods as they would under normal moisture conditions. Based on my communications with folks in that area and reports I’ve gotten from other sources it seems the actual impacts to yields are highly variable,” Ford wrote in an email to the Tribune. “Most folks will not have a great year in terms of yield, some may hit average, but I think many will be slightly to moderately below average on yield. That area got enough rain in the critical July-August period that the crop wasn’t a complete loss, like it was in 2012 or 1988.”
Authorities allege a female student saw a naked man about 11 a.m. Sept. 3 while he “exposed his penis, while masturbating, in front of an open doorway of a residence — visible from school grounds, while being less than 500 feet away from the secondary school,” according to court records.
Two teens — a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy — were shot in separate incidents. A man also was shot near Grant Park. And three men were shot in the 1200 block of North Clark in the Near North neighborhood at 2:20 a.m. The victims, ages 23, 24 and 26, were said to be in fair condition but would not disclose details to officers, police said.
