“It’s such a weird dynamic because I go home and I’m just Dad and I’m a husband — I hate talking about myself, so it’s awkward,” Wisdom said, laughing. “When it comes up and I just kind of brush it under the rug, people are like, ‘Dude, you’ve got to embrace that. That happened, be excited about it because not a lot of guys get to do that.’ So I try to embrace it.”
Among the early filers for the seat were Chicago Ald. Pat Dowell, 3rd, state Sen. Jacqueline Collins, workforce development coordinator Karin Norington-Reaves, who has Rush’s endorsement, community activist Jahmal Cole and Jonathan Jackson, civil rights activist and son of the Rev. Jesse Jackson.
Civilian Office of Police Accountability, the city agency that tracks and investigates police misconduct, was notified within a day of the arrest, according to public records that were returned to the Tribune on Friday as part of an open records request. The sheet lists Talley as the accused member of the incident under investigation, and it lists Chief Ernest Cato, who heads the counterterrorism bureau and oversees the narcotics division, as the “reporting party” and “third party.”
Michael Gillis, a Metra spokesman, said the trains were still stopped about two hours after the package was found inside the station. Chicago police and Metra police were at the scene. Gillis said he did not have any details on how the package was found or what it looked liked.
“It’s just getting him the reps, and getting out there every five to seven days and getting him used to the pro routine will help,” Teaford said. “He’s got the personality that wants to learn and wants to get better. He went and lived with Contreras for a while, so you can tell the drive is there. When you’ve got that, it makes a coach’s life a lot easier.”
The incident occurred shortly after midnight March 1, 2004, when Lechuga went to Covarrubias’ house on Chippewa Drive, knocked on Covarrubias’ window, waited for him to come over and then shot him with a .357-caliber revolver, prosecutors said in the release.

In early 2018, Nancy Hughes paid $12 million through a Delaware limited liability company for the five-bedroom Mayflower Road mansion in Lake Forest, which was built in 2009. The stone mansion has a slate roof, six full bathrooms, four half bathrooms, a first-floor primary bedroom suite, a second-floor screened porch, a second-floor billiard room, two laundry rooms with custom cabinetry, and a full basement with a large recreation room and radiant heat flooring throughout. The mansion sits on 5.23 acres on Lake Michigan.
