Paul Stracci and J. Michael Woods, Martinez’s attorneys, filed a motion Monday for certification for interlocutory appeal because Newton County Circuit Court Judge Jeryl Leach, who is presiding over the case, denied the motion to dismiss “without specific findings of fact or conclusions of law.”
The bare-bones, one-count criminal information alleged Solis, who abruptly announced his retirement as 25th Ward alderman in 2018 before his cooperation with the FBI was revealed, corruptly solicited campaign donations from an unidentified real estate developer in exchange for zoning changes in 2015, when Solis was head of the City Council Zoning Committee.
“From a chemistry standpoint, getting them back playing again is important,” Donovan said. “These guys for so many months, outside of the guys that have been injured, have been in some kind of rhythm pretty much every other day or back to back.”
“Anderson was a little behind due to a visa issue so he didn’t quite get the full spring,” Hahn said. “He came in not too dissimilar from Bennett Sousa as one of our young lefties we were excited to see in camp. Last year, El Milagro employees saw a round of raises that ranged between $1 to $3 per hour followed by a second raise of 36 cents across the board in December, said Shelly Ruzicka, Arise Chicago’s communications and development director. Before the raises, Ruzicka said, workers made approximately $15 to $17 an hour, with few reaching the higher end. Now, employees are starting at about $16.50 an hour, with most others making about $17 to $20 an hour. Arise Chicago estimates the raises affected 450 workers.

“For me, it’s just finishing the ball, finishing with the wrist at the very end and throwing it like a fastball instead of thinking changeup, which was a hard thing to get out of my head,” Kilian said. “Having a changeup is huge. A lot of hitters think that’s the best pitch in the game, so now that I actually have a decent one, I think it will make all my pitches better.”
