Amazon buys Central Steel plant for $35 million, plans delivery station on sprawling Southwest Side site

Amazon said it has invested more than $8 billion in Illinois, where it has more than 36,000 full- and part-time workers. Amazon already has nine fulfillment and sorting centers and eight delivery stations in the state, in addition to a downtown Chicago office, stores and other facilities.
