An 18-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon after a woman he allegedly was carjacking struggled with him and crashed into a column on Lake Street in the Loop neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, a female victim, whose exact age was not given by police, was in the first block of East Lake Street in an Infiniti FX35 when a male and a female entered her vehicle. A struggle ensued between the victim and the alleged carjackers while the vehicle moved forward, and the vehicle struck a column. The impact of the crash trapped the individuals inside, police said.
