2026 HUMMER EV 3X SUV Walkaround | First Look at a Big, Bold Electric SUV

Standing in front of the 2026 HUMMER EV 3X SUV, you immediately understand that this is not an electric vehicle trying to blend in. Finished in Deep Aurora Metallic, the paint shifts subtly with the light, giving the massive body a richness that feels more luxury expedition than novelty EV. The stance is wide and unapologetic, riding on 22-inch premium aluminum wheels, with real recovery hooks up front that signal this vehicle was designed to do more than pose. Even at a standstill, it feels substantial, almost architectural, and for many readers, this may be their first realization that an EV can look this bold and purposeful.

Walking along the side, the size becomes even more apparent. Fixed aluminum assist steps aren’t decorative here—they’re necessary—and they make climbing in far easier. That said, once seated, the driving position doesn’t feel quite as high as you might expect for something this tall, a detail that some buyers will notice immediately. The doors close with a solid, confident feel, though up close there is some noticeable wind noise around the door area that reminds you this vehicle prioritizes versatility and open-air design as much as isolation. Overhead, the Infinity Roof with opaque Sky Panels gives the cabin an airy, almost concept-car feel, transforming what could have been a dark interior into a bright, open space.

Up front, lifting the powered hood reveals the eTrunk, one of those EV features that quickly becomes part of daily life. It’s the kind of space you use for charging cables, camera gear, or groceries you don’t want sliding around in the back. Inside the cabin, the Granite Drift interior strikes a clean, modern tone. The seats are genuinely supportive, and paired with the air ride adaptive suspension, the HUMMER EV delivers a ride that’s surprisingly comfortable for something of this scale. Heated and ventilated front seats, tri-zone climate control, and a heated steering wheel reinforce that this is meant to be lived with, not just admired.

The technology is front and center, anchored by a large 13.4-inch infotainment screen with Google built-in navigation that helps remove much of the anxiety first-time EV buyers worry about, especially when it comes to finding charging on longer trips. This 3X model’s three-motor performance, all-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, and signature CrabWalk and King Crab modes are often talked about online, and seeing them in person makes it clear why. These systems aren’t gimmicks—they’re tools designed to help maneuver a very large vehicle in tight spaces or challenging terrain. Add in Super Cruise, included here with three years of coverage, and the HUMMER EV starts to feel less like a science project and more like a refined, high-tech SUV.

Around back, the power tailgate opens to a practical cargo area with tie-downs ready for real use, and the trailering equipment—trailer brake controller, trailering package, and spare tire—confirms that this electric HUMMER still embraces traditional truck responsibilities. There is, however, a faint whining noise detectable somewhere in the background, something you’d want addressed on a vehicle carrying a $108,095 MSRP. At this price point, details matter.

Taken as a whole, the 2026 HUMMER EV 3X SUV delivers an experience that feels dramatic, capable, and unexpectedly comfortable. It won’t be the quietest SUV on the road, and the seating height may not suit everyone, but for buyers curious about electric vehicles and wanting their first EV to feel bold rather than cautious, the HUMMER EV makes a powerful first impression. It doesn’t whisper the future—it announces it.
