SWAT team called after man barricades himself after shooting woman in Hermosa neighborhood, police say

The Chicago police SWAT team was on the scene where a man barricaded himself after allegedly shooting a woman Wednesday morning in the Hermosa neighborhood.

Around 11 a.m., a woman was involved in an argument with someone in the 2100 block of North Kostner Avenue when he pulled out a handgun and fired shots, Chicago police said.

The 25-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was listed in good condition, police said.

The alleged gunman barricaded himself inside of the residence, where the SWAT team was called.

As of 1:30 p.m., the SWAT team was still on the scene, police said.
