A man believed to be between 40 and 50 years of age was fatally wounded and another man, 32, was struck to the head in a shooting around 1 a.m. Wednesday at a homeless encampment near the Dan Ryan Expressway, Chicago police said.
Police responded to a shooting in the 1100 block of South Des Plaines Street. A man suffered wounds to the torso, and was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A 32-year-old man was struck in the head, and also was taken to Stroger where he was listed in fair condition, police said.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting were not known, and no one was in custody. Detectives were investigating.
