A 70-year-old man from Bloomingdale riding a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle was killed in a two-vehicle crash at 1:48 p.m. Saturday on Route 38 in Geneva, police said.

The preliminary investigation indicates the Harley Davidson was traveling in the eastbound lanes of Route 38, according to a press release from the Geneva Police Department. A 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveling westbound veered into the eastbound lanes east of the intersection with Crissey Avenue and struck the motorcycle in a head-on collision, according to police.

At this time, it does not appear speed or alcohol were factors in the crash, police said Saturday.

The rider of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, officials said. He was transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva by Geneva Fire Department personnel and pronounced dead at 2:17 p.m. Saturday, according to the release.

The Chevrolet Silverado was driven by a man from Aurora and was occupied by three passengers, police said. The driver and passengers were evaluated on scene by medical personnel. No injuries were reported by the occupants of the Silverado, according to the release.

The name of the motorcyclist killed in the crash will not be released until the family has been notified, police said.

The Geneva Police Department and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are actively working to investigate the crash, according to the release.
