Dorvel Offord has worked for ComEd for over 24 years, holding key positions within the company, including his current role as Director of Electric Operations. However, what he is accomplishing in his community has been equally impactful.

Offord works with young males between 14-18 from Rowe-Clark Math & Science Academy in Humboldt Park. He mentors them through a ComEd volunteer group called “Life Coaches for Young Men.”

Offord provides these teens guidance and support, encouraging them to “choose the hard right over the easy wrong as they express themselves and plan their future!” he stated.

As their life coach, Offord also teaches these young men how to answer the following: “How can I make my tomorrows better than my yesterdays?”

It’s a philosophy that has served Offord well at ComEd, where he has established a track record of taking on many large projects and adding value to his company and its customers.

Ultimately, Offord embodies what it means to be a Chicago Defender Man of Excellence. He is a Black man walking in his purpose while helping the next generation of young males do the same.

Mr. Offord will be among 50 honorees at the Chicago Defender Men of Excellence event on June 16 at 6 p.m. at the Tinley Park Convention Center. For Tickets and Tables, please visit www.chicagodefender.com.

About the Chicago Defender Men of Excellence:

Each year, the Chicago Defender takes great pride in recognizing African American men in our community who inspire others through their excellence, vision, leadership, achievements, and commitment to empowerment in multiple ways. We are proud of the accomplishments of these men who are doing amazing things across broad spectrums of society.
