Police: Lake Zurich driver killed in crash with tree

A 24-year-old man from Lake Zurich died after crashing his car into a tree early Sunday morning, according to a news release from the Lake Zurich Police Department.

Police said the driver, identified as Kevin Rediger, was moving eastbound on Pheasant Ridge Drive at 2:07 a.m. when he lost control of his car and hit a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened in the area of Pheasant Ridge Drive and Red Bridge Road, according to police.

A passenger in the vehicle was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The Lake Zurich Police Department Traffic Safety Division and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team are investigating the crash.
