American Idol Alum Harper Grace will visit the South Side YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day This Saturday

The American Idol alum will meet with South Side Y youth discuss mental health in advance of her White Sox performance Saturday evening

On Saturday, April 29, rising country star Harper Grace will visit the South Side YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day to talk about youth mental health, bullying, and her comeback after going viral for “the worst anthem ever” a decade ago. Later that evening, Ms. Grace will sing the National Anthem at the White Sox game.

All YMCA of Metro Chicago sites in the city and throughout the suburbs are participating in their own Healthy Kids Day 2023 events, which include sports, games, healthy snacks, and more to encourage kids to get active, have a blast, and share joy with others in their community.

Photo/video opportunities include: Youth and families partaking in fun activities; Harper Grace meeting with youth and performing at South Side YMCA; giveaways (bubbles, stickers, bags, jump ropes, Sox tickets, and more); face painting; Jr. NBA basketball challenges; African drum demos

DETAILS

Who: Harper Grace, YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, White Sox (via complimentary tickets at South Side Y), youth and families from various Chicago-area communities.

What: Healthy Kids Day 2023! The YMCA’s largest free one-day event all about building healthy bodies and healthy minds.

When: Saturday, April 29.

  • South Side YMCA / Harper Grace appearance: Approximately 11 a.m.
  • Across the region: late morning / early afternoon, varies by site

Where: Multiple sites:

  • South Side YMCA in Woodlawn at 6330 S Stony Island Ave
  • four other City of Chicago locations
  • six suburban locations

Why: To celebrate the power of play and to empower youth and families to build healthy bodies and healthy minds!
