First responders pulled a young boy from Lake Michigan’s waters at Navy Pier Monday afternoon, a fire department spokesperson said.
The fire department was called to rescue the boy around 1:25 p.m., Chicago Fire spokesperson Larry Merritt.

After first responders took him out of the water, paramedics transported the child to Lurie Children’s Hospital in critical condition, he said.
The boy is around three-years-old, Merritt said. His pulse had been detected after he was taken out of the water.

What led to the boy needing to be rescued remains unclear.
