Officers responded to the home on the 2600 block of West Potomac Avenue around 8:22 p.m. and found Briscoe inside with a gunshot wound to the stomach, police said. A family member of the boy told officers the boy was in the bathroom at the time when a bullet came through the window and hit him.

Briscoe was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, and he was later pronounced.
