“We look at this as a hitting department and a pitching department more than just a one-man show,” Hoyer said, “and as with all of these jobs, the hitting coach job, for example, has gotten so much more complicated as you add so much data. So you’re thinking about things in terms of not just swing mechanics, but also game planning and things like that. You want to make sure we’re acting as a team.
