An 11-year-old boy was charged after he tried to carjack a woman’s vehicle in the Douglas area early Monday, Chicago police said.

The boy was charged with one felony count of aggravated, attempted vehicular hijacking with a firearm, police said. He was arrested shortly before 4 a.m. Monday soon after he tried to take a 48-year-old woman’s car in the 3400 block of South Giles Avenue.

He was scheduled to appear in juvenile court Tuesday.

No additional information was immediately available.
