1 seriously injured in extra-alarm fire at Bronzeville high-rise building

A person was taken in serious-to-critical condition in a high-rise fire in the Bronzeville neighborhood, said Chicago Fire Department officials.

Chicago firefighters responded Wednesday morning to a call of a fire at a high-rise building in 4800 block of South Lake Park Avenue.

Shortly after 10:15 a.m., firefighters were called to 18th floor, but the blaze spread to the 15th, 16th and the 17th floor. A 211- alert was called at the scene.

More than six ambulances were deployed to the building.

Flames were out an upper floor window around !0:45 a.m., but shortly after Fire officials wrote on Twitter the fire was under control.
