Chicago police could not confirm the exact address of the shooting or at which hotel the shooting took place. There are two hotels on that block — the Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown, 600 N. State St., and the Eurostars Magnificent Mile, 660 N. State St. Attempts to confirm which hotel the shooting took place were unsuccessful Monday.

Allan, a 38-year-old married father of two sons, was hired in January 2017 as a second full-time officer for Southport’s largely volunteer police force after about five years as a volunteer officer for the 2,000-person municipality on the south side of Indianapolis.
“They were in stable condition, but tested positive for COVID-19, and their physician recommended moving them to local hospitals,” said Ed Lescher, the district’s public information officer. “There were a total of six ambulance transports, three made by MABAS group members, and three made by ourselves.”
And when you return, you should be careful with what you do immediately after getting back and limit large gatherings. “Testing is still really important,” especially for people traveling internationally, said Aniruddha Hazra, an assistant professor at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and an infectious diseases and global health expert. International travelers especially should test for COVID-19 three to five days after returning, according to CDC guidelines, and it is also encouraged for domestic travelers.

Weather service meteorologist Matt Friedlein said the service doesn’t track temperatures separately for Arlington Heights and downtown Chicago, but often the general precipitation and temperature trends are similar between the two. However, Friedlein said northern suburbs do tend to get more snow and colder temperatures than the heart of the city.
