Vacation destinations like Las Vegas, Hawaii and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, were among the top destinations for holiday revelers, according to AAA. Paula Twidale, a spokeswoman for the auto club and insurer, said the pickup in travel began in April as more Americans got vaccinated and the weather improved.
“I know it’s something there, I know the emotions will be there,” Wade said. “This is the first time she’ll ever get to play against her team, but the thing is that we have our mindset that we want to get better everyday. So to get better everyday, we have to make sure the health is there.”

Through May 23, 239 people were slain in Chicago, a jump of about 22% over the same time last year, when there were 196 homicides, according to official Chicago Police Department statistics. A man was seen tossing a gun out of the Hellcat as it slowed on the Cline Avenue ramp, another state trooper said. The driver, later identified as Evans, jumped out of the passenger side door, while the car was slowing to a halt, climbed up the wall and jumped off the exit ramp, documents state.
