“We have that chip on our shoulder like, you guys can continue to talk about who is the No. 1 team in the city, the No. 1 fan base in the city, whatever it is. But we’re going to go out there, we’re going to do our business and we’re going to let everybody know how good we are.”
On the South Side, two people were shot about 1:50 a.m. in the South Shore neighborhood. A man, 21, and a woman, 20, were inside an apartment building in the 2400 block of East 78th Street when they were both shot in the leg. The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and the woman to South Shore Hospital, both in fair condition.
When there are not enough drivers to meet demand, the companies pay them more, sometimes resorting to so-called surge pricing to lure drivers to areas where demand is high. Some recent surges have made prices jump 50% or more, said Daniel Ives, managing director of equity research at Wedbush Securities. Surge pricing can be a boon for drivers, but it sometimes provokes outrage from riders, especially during holidays and large events when demand can send prices soaring.
Other results perhaps were more newsworthy than a straight-set win by the No. 2-ranked Osaka — that’s certainly the case for U.S. Open champion and two-time French Open runner-up Dominic Thiem’s 4-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 loss to 68th-ranked Pablo Andujar — but the events that unfolded after the Japanese superstar’s match were of high interest.
Carpenter bees are different from other bees in that they work wood by chewing holes, which eventually become tunnels with different chambers in which to lay eggs. The same area is used over a period of years, so look for bees drilling wood or hovering around exposed unfinished wood. The bees prefer unpainted or weathered softwoods, such as redwood, cedar, cypress and pine. Painted or pressure-treated wood is much less susceptible to attack. Common nesting sites tend to be arbors, decks, eaves, window trim, fascia boards, siding, wooden shakes, and outdoor wood furniture.
Brook Lopez scored 25 points, Giannis Antetokounmpo had a triple-double — 20 points, 12 rebounds and 15 assists — and the Bucks became the first team to advance in this year’s playoffs, beating the Heat 120-103 on Saturday and finishing off a first-round sweep over last season’s Eastern Conference champions.
“ ‘Whoomp! (There It Is)’ started playing, and the crowd was going crazy in the stands and everybody was dancing around,” Ross said. “That’s a reminder of the great energy, a great moment, a great feeling that happens here at Wrigley Field when you start having success and the fans are into it.”
“It’s very frustrating,” Fire coach Raphael Wicky said. “I think overall we controlled the game well. We were, in my opinion, clearly the better team. … It’s frustrating. It’s disappointing going into a three-week break with this result, especially when you see that this is a game where we were the better team.”
