NorthShore joins Lurie Children’s Hospital, Advocate Aurora Health, Loyola Medicine and University of Chicago Medicine in requiring vaccination. Other health systems, such as Northwestern Medicine system and Amita Health, have yet to require vaccines for their workers. Cook County Health also announced Monday that it will require all staff, contractors and students to be fully vaccinated by Oct. 1 or demonstrate a verifiable medical or religious exemption.
The girl, who is now 4, suffered a skull fracture and brain injury and has been on anti-seizure medication since getting hit by the foul ball off the bat of then-Chicago Cubs outfielder Albert Almora Jr., Mithoff said. However, doctors have been weaning her from the medication gradually, and she hasn’t had a seizure in 22 months, he said.

At approximately 3:39 a.m., a 25-year-old woman was driving in a Blue Honda CRV heading southbound on the interstate. Just south of Cicero Avenue, the woman unexpectedly lost control of the car, which left the roadway and overturned at the center median, according to state police.
