Lightfoot also expressed concerns about the effect e-learning has had on some students, noting that thousands of them didn’t connect remotely. It’s a disservice to those students if CPS doesn’t provide “a safe and nurturing environment for our kids to learn,” Lightfoot said, adding schools are more than a place where people learn their ABCs.
Headquartered in Irvine, California, Rivian has about 2,500 employees working at its sole production facility, a converted Mitsubishi plant in Normal, a rural college town about 130 miles south of Chicago, and 7,000 employees overall. “There’s not a lot of Black people that are in tennis at any level,” Murray said. “Whether it’s agents, running events, suppliers for events, players, coaches, trainers, not a lot of us. So this was a good opportunity to also build some capacity, some experience with a minority group of people.”

The three liberal justices dissented.
