The 6-foot-6 Johnson, the No. 8 pick in the 2015 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons, is a versatile defender capable of guarding multiple positions, which should bolster the Bulls’ wing depth. He appeared in 61 games (13 starts) for the Toronto Raptors last season, averaging 4.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 38.2% from the field.

Ibrahim rushed 30 times for 163 yards before the injury, moving into eighth place on the program’s career rushing yards list (3,003). His per-game average (103.6) is slightly higher than that of the all-time leader Darrell Thompson (103.4), who racked up 4,654 yards from 1986-89. Ibrahim is tied for fourth in career touchdowns (33).
Charles, who the Liberty traded to the Washington Mystics in 2020, is one of 10 current players on the list. The other nine are Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart, Angel McCoughtry, Nneka Ogwumike, Candace Parker, Brittney Griner and Sylvia Fowles.
Greg Little, whom the Dolphins acquired from the Carolina Panthers in a trade during camp, could be in line to start on Sunday if Jackson is unavailable. Rookie Liam Eichenberg has college experience playing left tackle, but he hasn’t practiced there during camp — only going at left guard and right tackle — while he’s also nursing an undisclosed lower-body injury. Right tackle Jesse Davis can play the position, but it’s unlikely to have him switch sides on the line with the priority in protecting left-handed quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s blind side.
“He’s been very impressive,” Sox manager Tony La Russa said last week. “He’s a pitch maker, he’s got stuff, the ability to locate the wipeout slider, spot the fastball. I saw what he was doing for the Cubs, he was very effective there. He’s been a heck of an addition, an important one.”
“But look, it was just fun to see that all coming together because the minute that happened, it was like five coaches all just converged on the (dugout) stairs. And it was just like, ‘All right, Borzie and I will handle the pitching and that stuff.’ I turned to Val and Poce and was like, ‘Whoever you want to pinch-hit, get guys ready.’
OK, so this is admittedly the 500-1 long shot. After all, Jaylon Johnson, the Bears’ top cornerback, went all last season without an interception. So did safety Eddie Jackson. As a team, the Bears haven’t topped 10 interceptions in a season since 2018. Their picks leaders a year ago were linebacker Roquan Smith and safety Tashaun Gipson –— with two apiece.
As an adult, however, I look back on that year and feel unsettled and squeamish; Mr. K would often comment on my looks and how he liked my hair styled best. He would drop by my house unannounced to bring me books, and once on a school-related outing, he drove me and a few other students to his home (he lived alone) to give us a tour of the house.
