Southwest Side Ald. Mike Rodriguez, 22nd, said officers should be required to disclose outside jobs they’re working after they get off shift or on their days off. It’s important that officers don’t come to work tired from another job, since they need to be sharp to make split-second decisions, Rodriguez said.
Exelon has long threatened to close two nuclear plants if it doesn’t get enough money out of the state energy package, and after the Senate vote the company gave a Sept. 13 deadline for shutting down its plant in Byron, Illinois. Exelon said it would close its plant in Dresden in November. A third plant that would receive subsidies, in Braidwood, isn’t threatened with being shut down.
A review of Officer A’s log-ins to the Bureau of Prisons internal information system, meanwhile, showed that the officer had improperly accessed Kelly’s records 153 times between July 15, 2019, when Kelly first arrived at the MCC, and Dec. 12, 2019, shortly before her retirement, according to the warrant.
