“SoxFest has been built on nearly three decades of 10,000 fans, players, coaches and staff who come together under one roof to celebrate the White Sox,” the team said in a statement. “As we continue to try and predict and manage COVID-related protocols in indoor settings, we believe it is not possible to carry out the traditional experience and activities that have made SoxFest special, like autographs, photos and guest appearances.”

Schwab, who lives in San Clemente, California, and previously held executive roles at Jaguar Land Rover and Aston Martin, was recruited by Rivian for months before joining the company last November, according to the lawsuit. Given a broad portfolio that included everything from marketing and customer engagement to arranging test drives, Schwab initially had regular conversations with Rivian founder and CEO RJ Scaringe, but those grew less frequent over time, the lawsuit alleges.

“I can understand that people are scared, people are nervous,” Broadwell said. “Sometimes there can be information that can be helpful and some that can be somewhat misleading. It’s just really hard to digest all the information that is out there and stories that are filtering through that maybe even come from trusted sources.”

A: Every single sector we look at in society — who’s in positions of some sort of leadership or power — there’s always underrepresentation of folks of color. That’s something that we want to change. I would love to see it in philanthropy, especially seeing folks of color who really understand the issues, have seen them firsthand, who have done work on the ground. Because then when you come to the philanthropic side, you really have an understanding of why and how the work is being done. When I was looking for work, a lot of positions required a master’s degree. And even though I have the experience of being an executive director for six years, running an organization from finances and human resources to the leadership of the organization, that doesn’t matter until you have certain credentials. We need to look at the disinvestment in communities of color and the education pipeline. How do we invest in them? But also just thinking about different types of leadership. Being a program officer, anybody can do the role. When I was an executive director, I would tell workers you could be the executive director of this organization — you’re a leader in the organization, you understand the organization, you know the work, because you’ve been on the ground, being workers in other positions where they’re helping run the organization. I was like, you can do it. Everybody is capable of doing it. I think we need to demystify this idea of professionalism and what professionalism means in order to open the doors for more people to come to the workforce, not only philanthropy.

Chicago public health commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady said there will be over 200 vaccination sites across the city on Nov. 12 but did not offer more specifics. City officials touted local pharmacies, family health care providers, mobile school-based events at some Chicago Public Schools as places where people can get vaccinated.

Last month, hiring was spread across nearly every major industry, with only government employers reporting a job loss. Shipping and warehousing companies posted a gain of 54,000 jobs. Retailers added 35,000. The battered leisure and hospitality sector, which includes, restaurants, bars, hotels and entertainment venues, gained 164,000 jobs.

“A big one for me, and this is always going to be something, is refining my routine and preparation,” Giolito said of his lessons learned. “There were a couple (of) starts that you’d consider blowup starts that I had, especially early in the season, where I look back on those and I think, ‘Man, that was very avoidable.’ If I had just put that little bit of extra effort into my preparation in the days leading up … I can be a lot more consistent pitcher.

“I’ve been in multiple games, a lot of games being down big, seeing things happen that are possible,” he said. “That’s pulling out victories. All it takes is parts of the game to buckle down and stick together. For me that’s just keeping that calm, not getting rattled and sharing whatever experience I can to keep us together as well.”

Jenny Halladay, a manager and people and culture business partner, joined CoinFlip’s human resources group in June after earning a master’s degree in learning and organizational change from Northwestern University. She describes the CoinFlip experience as a “whirlwind.” A millennial in her 30s (“I’m at the upper end of the age range of our population,” she notes), she is energized by the pace. In her first few months, “the job hasn’t evolved, it’s expanded,” she says. “For me, any area I want to explore and build, I can do that.”
