The heaviest snow rates were predicted to occur between 3 to 11 p.m., making conditions extra dangerous after sunset by diminishing visibility, especially along the Lake Michigan shoreline, according to officials. Motorists were cautioned of blowing snow.

“Legendary NFL player and coach Dan Reeves passed away early this morning, peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at his home in Atlanta, Ga.,” the family’s statement read. “He passed away at age 77 due to complications from a long illness. His legacy will continue through his many friends, players and fans as well as the rest of the NFL community. Arrangements are still to be determined.”

The Bulls don’t need to offload Williams, but the upcoming free agency window offers a chance to reshape the roster without him. The league denied a request from the Bulls for a disabled player exception, according to a report by Shams Charania of The Athletic. This exception would have provided the team with extensive leeway for spending on a new player, but it required a league doctor to determine Williams would be sidelined through June 15.

“I don’t need to put my stamp on this team,” King said. “I’m here, I’m just going to be myself, like I said earlier, when I first took over. … But I just want these guys to go and play, not grip the stick, enjoy the game, the game they’ve played since they were 5, 6 years old. My job is to make sure they do that. I think for the most part that’s what we’ve done.

The Giants and Bears have both struggled in the draft. With five top-10 picks since 2015, the Giants selected offensive tackle Ereck Flowers, cornerback Eli Apple, running back Saquon Barkley, Jones and offensive tackle Andrew Thomas. In four consecutive drafts the Bears selected Kevin White, Leonard Floyd, Mitch Trubisky and Roquan Smith with top-10 picks, only marginally better use of resources. New York drafted Florida wide receiver Kadarius Toney with the first-round pick they got from the Bears in April, but he has struggled to stay healthy and it has been challenging to integrate him into the offense.

Defensive coordinator Sean Desai has done a nice job this season, especially considering the number of key players that have missed large chunks of the season and some of the depth issues in the secondary. The Bears went against Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins and Russell Wilson, and with the Giants reportedly preparing to play Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm, that’s a huge step down in class. The Bears should be able to force a bunch of punts with the opportunity to swing the game if they play well on special teams. Andy Dalton will start at quarterback for the Bears, and if he can distribute the ball like Nick Foles did last week in Seattle, the Bears should win consecutive games for the second time this season.

State data shows more beds have opened since, as some hospitals have canceled nonemergency surgeries. Still, many regions’ hospital systems remain stressed, according to state measurements. In some regions, such as the one covering Will and Kankakee counties, the number of available intensive care unit beds had dwindled to the single digits. And across Illinois, at last count, the number of open beds remained below 7,000, for a state with nearly 13 million residents.

Deer browsing is common in many areas, including Highland Park. Hanging soap or hair in branches will not work as a deterrent for deer browsing. Use physical barriers such as wire or plastic netting to protect plants from deer. Yews and arborvitae are deer favorites and will likely be browsed in areas where deer are active. Repellents can be applied when temperatures are above 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Rain will wash off the repellents over time, so one application in the fall may not provide protection for the entire winter.
