I intensely admire Amy. Her breadth and depth of knowledge is just unreal, and she is a kind, good humored, confident-yet-humble person. Basically, she embodies all the traits I strive for in myself! Also on tap for the residency will be Harold’s 83 Honey Ale, a beer developed by two Black Chicago brewers to honor Chicago’s first Black mayor, Harold Washington: Jay Westbrook, who is active in Chicago beer through his company, Black Beer Baron; and Sam Ross, a brewer for Goose Island Beer Co. Harold’s 83 Honey Ale is made by Haymarket, and a business partnership between the brewery, Westbrook and Ross.

“What we want to do is rethink the role of police. Having them focus on the violence, having them focus on homicides and shootings, trying to prevent the next one, trying to solve the one that just happened, that’s the best use of their time and energy,” Duncan said.

“If COVID testing, in that scenario, which I think is highly unlikely, kind of falls off, then we’ll have to obviously look at the investments we’re making and make the adjustments we have to make, especially as we start to move into 2023,” Ford said. “I don’t think that is the case. I think that COVID testing is going to be still around. I think omicron has catalyzed a pretty significant shift in global rapid testing and screening, and the question here is going to be how does it evolve over the next nine months, 12 months here.”

In conjunction with the giveaway, Wolves players will wear “Healthcare Heroes” jerseys for the Friday and Saturday games that “will be auctioned and raffled to benefit Chicago Wolves Charities and three local health care-related charities: the Illinois Association of Student Nurses, the Chicago chapter of the National Black Nurses Association and the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Illinois,” the Wolves wrote in a release on their website. The game-worn jerseys will be autographed as well.

“She said, ‘The Cubs are going to put up a statue for Harry Caray and I called them to do a statue for Jack, who had been there of course much longer than Harry, and they said they wouldn’t do a statue for Jack but they would put ‘Hey, Hey’ (Jack Brickhouse’s signature phrase) on the foul poles,’” Marovitz recalled. “She said, ‘You have to help me do something to memorialize Jack.’ I said, ‘Let me get to work and we’ll get it done.’ ”
