About 400 students attended Delta Community Credit Union’s Cool Cash Money Camps throughout June in metro Atlanta, including in Decatur.
Launched in 2014, the camps offer youth financial education workshops during the summer in both in-person and virtual formats, event organizers said.
This year’s in-person camps were held in five communities. Local children and teens who participated in a series of games and interactive lessons focused on money management gained a better understanding of financial concepts, according to a news release.
Credit union representatives led two workshops in Decatur, featuring curriculum based on age-appropriate National Literacy Standards. The workshop for children focused on the basics of earning, saving, and spending money, while the workshop for teens presented real-life budgeting scenarios and decision-making exercises.
Delta Community also offers workshops for adults focused on various financial topics, including budgeting, home buying, and debt management through the Delta Community Credit Union Financial Education Center.
