2026 Nissan Z Performance – A 400 HP Throwback You Get to Shift Yourself

2026 Nissan Z Performance M/T Review and POV Driving.
If you’ve ever wanted a sports car that feels like it’s talking back—in a good way—this Nissan Z is that kind of car. It’s small, low, and built for fun. And the best part? You get a real 6-speed manual. That means you do the shifting. Nissan even gives you a big twin-turbo V6 with 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, so the car feels strong the moment you press the gas.
This car wants to launch.
This Z Performance model comes equipped with Launch Control, a high-performance EXEDY clutch, and SynchroRev Match. In plain terms, it helps your downshifts feel smoother, and it enables you to take off hard and cleanly when you’re ready. You also get a mechanical, limited-slip differential, which is a fancy way of saying the car can help put power down better when the road curves and the tires fight for grip. Nissan calls the Z “pure thrills,” and this trim has the hardware to back that up.
The suspension is built to play.
Under the Z is a sport-tuned setup: double wishbone front suspension, multi-link rear, stabilizer bars, and a front strut tower brace. That’s a long list, but here’s what it means: the Z is made to feel steady when you turn the wheel fast. It also has speed-sensitive steering, so it can feel lighter at low speeds and more planted as you go faster.
And when it’s time to slow down, you get 4-wheel vented disc brakes with red calipers. Plus, those 19-inch RAYS® forged wheels look serious and are made to be light and strong.
You sit in a cockpit, not a living room
Inside, his Z feels like it’s focused on the driver. You get a 12.3-inch digital dashboard that can be set up in different screen styles, so you can pick what you want to see while driving.
There are also three extra gauges up on the dash—like a little “race car” reminder every time you look forward.
You also get the comfort stuff you’ll actually use:
Heated power seats (driver and passenger)
* Leather seats with suede inserts
* Leather-wrapped steering wheel
* Automatic temperature control
* Parking sensors (front and rear)
The tech is simple — and it works.
This Z includes NissanConnect® with a touchscreen and navigation, plus Bluetooth, SiriusXM, wireless Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and even Wi-Fi hotspot features listed for Z connectivity.
And if you like your music loud and clear, it has an 8-speaker Bose® system with sound tech designed to help inside the cabin.
It watches out for you when traffic gets dumb.
Sports cars are fun, but real roads are full of surprises. Nissan builds in a strong set of driver aids, including:
* Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
* Blind Spot Warning
* Lane Departure Warning
* Rear Cross Traffic Alert
* High Beam Assist
*Intelligent Forward Collision Warning
*Intelligent Cruise Control
That’s a lot of protection for a car that still wants you to enjoy driving.
Old-school Z shape, modern attitude.
The Z has that classic long-hood sports car look. Nissan also keeps leaning into its history with special touches like the Heritage Edition, which is inspired by the Z32 300ZX.
Even if you don’t buy the Heritage Edition, the whole Z line is built around that “icon” idea.
Price and what you’re getting
The MSRP on the Z you listed is $55,190, including options like premium paint, Z center caps, and a floor mat package with Z logos and cargo items. That’s not cheap. But you’re paying for something that’s getting rare: a real manual, real power, and a driver-focused sports car that still brings modern safety and tech.
Bottom line
The 2026 Nissan Z Performance M/T is for people who don’t want a car that feels like a video game. This one feels like a machine you get to control. It’s fast, sharp, and built to make boring drives disappear. If you’ve been waiting for a modern sports car that still respects old-school fun, this Z is basically Nissan saying: “Here. Go enjoy it.”
