Thursday, March 21, Ghanaian American singer and New York native, Amaarae hit the stage at the House of Blues.

Fans were shoulder to shoulder as supporters flocked to a sold-out ballroom. While space was tight, this didn’t detour fans from dancing and enjoying the singer performing fan favorites.

“Fountain Baby” is Amaarae’s second studio album, as well as the name of her current tour. While in Chicago, she dazzled fans with her silky vocals and seduced the crowd while wearing a leather red mini skirt ensemble.

“Sad Girlz Luv Money” TikTok sensation Amaarae performed live at the House of Blues on March 21, 2024.

Fans roared with excitement, as Amaarae performed “Angels in Tibet,” the edgy, hypnotic single that’s had the internet in a frenzy since Fountain Baby dropped. Dressed in glittery, Afro-futuristic make-up, bold hairstyles and passion, fans sang the lyrics to “Co-Star” word for word and laughed when Amaarae apologized for her anti-Libra lyrics. That type of fan interaction made the night feel personal and special.

The singer closed out the night with her hit song from 2020, “Sad Girlz Luv Money” featuring Moliy, and even gave the Chicago crowd an encore, running the song back for a second time.

Off the heels of her 2nd album, Amaarae has been performing her music all over the world, just recently performing in Amsterdam and Paris in the month of March. Afropop has become extremely popular in the 2020s, with artists like Wizkid and Burna Boy breaking into the mainstream.

From the Bronx, New York, Amaarae’s music naturally has a unique feeling and she’s primed for a bigger stage. Her music is cutting edge, while her vocals are sweet, and capture the essence of femininity in each note. Fusing Hip-hop and R&B with an Afropop feel, Amaarae has an international appeal most artists would only dream of.

The last leg of the “Fountain Baby Tour” continues as she is set to travel to Toronto, Atlanta, and Los Angeles, among other American cities in the near future. This is before the tour wraps overseas, with two performances in Barcelona, Spain, one in Switzerland, and three shows in the United Kingdom.
