A 3-year-old girl has died after falling from a ninth floor balcony of a building in the Douglas neighborhood Tuesday morning, Chicago police said.
The fatal fall happened about 11:45 a.m. in the 500 block of East 33rd Place, police said.
The girl was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition and later pronounced, police said.
“Circumstances are currently being investigated by detectives as a death investigation at this time,” police said in a statement.
It was not immediately clear whether the child was alone at the time of the fall.
