The powerhouse varsity baseball program at Mundelein High School is under investigation after a report of student and athletic code of conduct violations was received by District 120.
Mundelein High Principal Alexandria Rios Taylor said in a statement Tuesday afternoon that the school “promptly launched an investigation” and postponed three games after it learned Friday of the alleged misconduct.
“Should the report be founded, school-based and athletic consequences will be applied as outlined in the student handbook,” Taylor said.
Games against Waukegan on Monday and Tuesday were postponed, as well as a game that was scheduled last Saturday against Grayslake North.
“Student safety is always our top priority,” the principal said. “The expectation in all of our educational and extracurricular programs is that everyone treats each other with respect and dignity. At this time, the investigation is still active and ongoing. As such, we are not able to comment further at this time.”
It is unclear whether there will be future postponements, and the investigation’s timeline is unknown.
A spokesperson from the Mundelein police department would not confirm whether the department was investigating the allegations and declined comment.
In recent years, Mundelein has had one of Lake County’s most successful high school baseball programs. The Mustangs were the Class 4A state runner-up in 2016 and in 2022.
