Two teens and a firefighter were injured at a house fire in the Roseland neighborhood early Wednesday, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to a call of a fire at 11361 S. Edbrooke Ave. at approximately 3:38 a.m. Five out of six people who were inside the home were able to escape, including a 15-year-old female who suffered injuries. A Mayday call shortly went out, according to a tweet by the Chicago Fire Department.

”There were a couple of people who self-evacuated, however, one person was still inside and the firefighters were making an aggressive attack on the fire when the fire quickly expanded and which caused the Mayday — the elevation of the alarm,” Chief Juan Hernandez said.
The sixth person, a 17-year-old, was rescued by firefighters and is in critical condition at U. of C. A firefighter also suffered injuries and remains hospitalized.

The fire took “quite a while” to put out — approximately two hours, Hernandez said. The house was a one and a half story frame building.
“We believe right now that it may have started in the basement,” Hernandez said, but added that an investigation is pending.
