Record-breaking college basketball star Tiffany Jackson has died following a battle with breast cancer at age 37.

The death of Jackson was announced Monday in a tribute from the University of Texas Longhorns athletics program.

“Tiffany had a great career and was an impact player,” said Hall of Fame coach Jody Conradt, who coached Jackson during her time at the university.

“She was recognized for her all-around game and the fact that she was tremendously mobile and could play multiple positions. She was beloved by teammates, and we share in the sadness of her passing,” continued Conradt.

Texas Head Coach Vic Schaefer said Jackson “will be sorely missed by so many” and was “one of the greatest players in the history of Texas Women’s Basketball.

“From her days as a player for DFW Elite to her days as a player at The University of Texas, Tiffany has meant so much to so many people in this great state of Texas,” continued Schaefer. “I know she was so excited to be the head coach at Wiley College for the upcoming season.”

She remains “the only person in program history to have accomplished the combined feat of 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 300 steals and 150 blocks,” according to the statement.

Jackson was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer just over 7 years ago and was in remission in spring 2016 before signing with the Los Angeles Sparks the following February. She became an assistant coach for the Longhorns in 2018.
