Black excellence will be on display at Monday’s (September 12) 2022 Emmy Awards.
The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards will be hosted by award-winning comedian Kenan Thompson at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
Angela Bassett, Taye Diggs, Shemar Moore, Lizzo, and more will be presenting the gold trophies to television and entertainment’s biggest stars.
A number of Black entertainers have also earned nods at this year’s awards.
Of note, Zendaya, 25, again made history as the youngest woman to ever be nominated for producing at the Emmys. This follows her ground-breaking win as the youngest lead actress drama winner in 2020.
The cast of Abbott Elementary is also up for a number of awards at the 2022 ceremony, which will be broadcasted live Monday on NBC and Peacock.

Who’s Hosting?
The Television Academy has tapped award-winning comedian Kenan Thompson to host the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards.
“Being a part of this incredible evening where we honor the best of the television community is ridiculously exciting, and to do it on NBC – my longtime network family – makes it even more special,” Thompson said, per the Emmys press release. “Like all TV fans, I can’t wait to see the stars from my favorite shows.”
A six-time Emmy Award nominee, Thompson made his television debut on Nickelodeon’s hit sketch comedy series “All That” and is now entering his 20th season of Saturday Night Live as the show’s longest-running member.
“Kenan is well-regarded as one of funniest, likable, and accomplished performers of the last two decades and his tenure on Saturday Night Live speaks for itself, NBCUniversal exec Jen Neal said in the press release. “We know he’ll bring an excitement and professionalism to the Emmy Awards that a show of this stature deserves.”
