The Illinois State Police were investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday shortly after 10 p.m. on northbound Stevenson Expressway near Archer Avenue.
The shooting left one person with life-threatening injuries, police said. According to the Civilian Office of Police Accountability who responded to the scene, an off-duty Chicago police officer was involved in the shooting.

State police closed down all northbound lanes of the Stevenson while they investigated and cleared the scene.
