1-year-old boy critically injured after 3-story fall from Englewood residence

A 1-year-old boy was critically injured after falling from a three-story residence in Englewood early Thursday, according to Chicago police.

The boy fell through a screen and window of a building in the 6400 block of South Lowe Avenue around 4:20 a.m. Thursday. Paramedics took him to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition, authorities said.

The boy’s fall initially had been classified as an accident, police said. The circumstances leading up to it remain under investigation.

A spokesman for the Chicago Fire Department deferred questions to Chicago police; a spokeswoman for police said she did not have additional information.
