Nick Madrigal has season-ending surgery on his torn hamstring. ‘It’s a way to put it behind him and start fresh,’ Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa says.

“Eloy talked the other day (about), ‘I’m going to be ready soon,’ ” La Russa said. “Well, you’re ready when you’re ready. Same thing with Luis, it would be the same thing with Nick. This way, it takes that decision out of him and then he can just take his time and make sure he’s 100%.”
