Thaddeus Jones sworn in as Calumet City mayor, appoints new police chief

Jones, who is also a state representative, faced other challenges to become mayor. Voters in November approved a referendum barring those holding state office from running for mayor, and Cook County Judge Maureen O’Hannon ruled him off the ballot in late January. In mid-February, an Illinois Appellate court overturned that decision and allowed him on the ballot.
