The penguins, whose nesting season is triggered by longer daylight hours, have mostly finished meticulously building their nests, using rocks, twigs and branches to form a tight circular nest. Some mating pairs have already laid eggs, and more will produce eggs in the coming month or so, a few of which may be fertilized and develop into baby penguins, said Lana Gonzalez, penguin and sea otter manager at the Shedd.
